In 2013, I’ve decided to feature my favorite vendors; one fabulous vendor a month. Exciting, right? Our first featured vendor is Samantha H. Chu, the fabulous designer behind Papermints!
When I think of Samantha, the one thing that comes to mind is classy chic, she resonates this fabulosity that is contagious of which I experienced first hand. I first met her over a year ago at the historic Marston’s in Pasadena. Over a cup of coffee we discussed working together on an EPA project and naturally weddings. I’m delighted to feature her because she is a wonderful designer, one of a kind if you ask me and she can customize your dreams on paper. She’s the first person on my mind when a bride asks for a stationer!
Because we are delighted to feature her, we have asked Samantha a few intriguing questions so you too can get to know her and get an idea for her work and commitment to her craft.
Thank you Samantha for agreeing to be featured. You are wonderful!
Xoxo- Erin Grace
Who is Papermints?
List 3 blogs or website you use for inspiration:
Lately, I’ve been slightly obsessed with Pinterest, which I go to for day to day inspiration. I also share ideas and inspiration boards with clients via Pinterest which has been a wonderful tool in the creative process.
I’m a big supporter of independent designers, as I am one myself. I’m always inspired by the handmade finds and designs on Etsy, where I also own a custom wall art and a partyware shop. There is so much talent in the Etsy community! I also like to stop by sites such as Colourlovers and The Perfect Palette for exploring unique color combinations and palettes.
What are the benefits a bride will experience when using your services?
Having been a stationery designer for 10 years, I’m able to provide couples with creative design ideas, printing options, and offer resources such as paper supplies and materials to suit each budget. I run a full-service studio, from designing custom invitations to coordinating all the wedding day stationery such as programs, menus, & escort cards. I want my brides and grooms to relax and enjoy the wedding stationery design process.
What makes your work stand out?
I think my love of a clean design aesthetic and fondness for typography shows in my work. It’s a real joy working with couples on their personalized wedding themes, from the classic monogram style, vintage circus, to a retro movie poster invitation. I’ve recently worked with a couple on their “Top Secret” themed custom invitation which was funny and offbeat with a modern twist. We had a lot of laughs throughout the design process and it was a thrill hearing that their guests were gushing over how creative and unique their invitations were.
What are some of your hobbies outside the wedding industry?
I’m a foodie at heart and I love to eat! I’m always up for trying out new restaurants and testing out new recipes from my favorite food blogs.
I’m also a big fan of Zumba. The feel good vibe and energy you get from the music gives me an excuse to dance and workout at the same time!
What do you want a bride to know about your business?
Being a wedding stationer since 2002, I’ve had the honor of working with couples all over the world, from as far away as Ireland to our local SoCal brides. Currently, we have a collection of ready made invitations, and we provide custom design services as well – which I love to do! Last year, we launched a collection of custom typographic wall prints and canvas art for couples, weddings, nursery, & home decor. We also offer printable stationery and partyware options for the DIY brides.
